[Its a pleasant night, and deep sleep, and some time in the middle of the Saya's temperature rises, her breath eases slightly, she stills against Chase's side. She opens her eyes then, and closes them again.
She's not usually a cuddler but she's not moving. When the light finally filters in the room she keeps her eyes closed. Saya is a predator whose gift is patience. She can wait for him to wake first.]
[It's been a better, deeper sleep than he's managed for a while, but Chase still wakes too early, when the dawn's still struggling to offer more than pale outlines.
It might have been nice to wake and to forget himself a few more moments, but his mind can't have been silenced by sleep. He wakes and tilts his head down to look at her, curious. Faintly ashamed.
It occurs to him that sleeping with any other woman, cursed, would have felt too much like taking advantage, and there's guilt for letting a different morality apply to her.]
[She feels him move and her eyes slide open. They're that strange, pale color, that odd amber that her eyes lacked last night, the flatness of Saya's usual gaze.]

[Her voice is very soft, almost human, but there's that tonality to it, that slight flatness that Saya has]
[He catches the corner of the sheet before its pulled off his hips, however little point there is to retaining modesty. Still not quite sharp, he blinks through the sleep in his eyes.]
I hope you remember, or the explanation's going to be a long one.
[Because he doubts she'd react any less cooly, even if she didn't.]
[She actually shudders at the memory of that, all that water around her, diving, but it's only a moment before he touches her, and it doesn't show on her face.]
Wasn't exactly 'us'. [But he'll take that as some kind of reassurance, flattening out on his back, head turned to look across at her.] ...But thanks. [Cough.]
Normally I'd know what to say, waking up next to a woman I've slept with.
